a Chance that missed

I cant believe it's almost mid of year again..it feels like its only yesterday I celebrate the changing year in Denpasar and now, it's already 4 months ago! Time surely flies but right now it uses jet power.

Right now I'm still laying on my bed, hoping that groceries would cooked by itself (yeah right) because I have a mood in writing and I have to sacrifice something in order to gain something. You know what I mean..

Last thursday night I had a chance to attend an event Quran recital with the orphanage in my friend's office. I've been planning to go there since like hundred years a go but it was last thursday when it finally happened. Actually I was assigned to go to Bandung for an HR meeting in the day after, and I have to go very early since the meeting was held on 8.00, but I have the urge to attend the Quran recital.
It was 19.00 WIB when I got bbm from my friend who invited me there.

F: where are you?
M: still at office. What time the recital finish? I probably will get there by 19.30
F: 20.30
M: OK, I will go now, just wait for me, all right?
F: I'm reaching your office now. I'll pick you up.
M: well, thats surely a better plan for me :)

So I went with my friend in his car. Thank God I dont have to take public transport because I could save a lot of time by using his car.

When we got there half an hour later, his office was at 3rd floor and I had to catch my breath since I brought my 2,2 kg laptop with me not to mention the 70 kg of my body that certainly not a light through the stairsh :p

Everyone were singing barzanji and there were like 10 of them, 8 girls and 2 boys, all dressed in purple. I also saw 8 adults, 3 toddlers and  2 babies. It all if I wasnt mistaken hehe.

I was greeted by my friend's mother, his brother and sister in law, his employees and the Ustadz.
I wasnt quite familiar with this barzanji thing, in fact my dad has once stated it as bid'ah, since Rasulullah never taught us this. Actually Rasul had never taught reciting Quran together as well, or known as yasinan, but at that time I just wanted to see the orphans, so I put aside all the facts.

After the barzanji, came tausiyah. But first, welcoming speech from my friend's brother. And off course, my friend as the host afterwards. He introduced me as "someone who would read the kids fairy-tales". Well, ok, I can do that, I thought.

After that, we had dinner. I was forced to eat, but actually I had ate nasi padang given by my colleague for my meal of breaking the fast. So I had full tummy. I just carried a 5 months baby whose father died because of motorcycle accident with the container. A classic common story when you lived in Priok.

After the dinner, we took Isha pray together, and read the tawassul. It also something that my dad told me that it's something that has no correlation with sunnah. The ustadz shared us copies of paper with arab letters, and there was a picture of some habib or syech on it, and the ustadz suggested us to go the habib's grave in Bogor someday. My friend then said Tuesday will be great for ziarah and the kids were happy to hear that.

After that the event finished. Right at 20.30. However, my friend had a quiz time with the kids, and whoever could answer his questions shall get the prize.

Not long after that he gave each orphans an envelope filled with money, and the kids were sent to their home by a pick up car. Actually its not that far, probably only 5 or 6 km away from my friend's office, and they liked it very much, so pick up it is for your ride, fellas!

Now the place was empty because all the kids were sent home, my friend finally told me his intention of inviting me. Actually hes been inviting me from long time a go, as I said earlier, hundred years before, but tjis time he had something to tell me.

He offered me a job to handle the operation in his office, knowing that he has no competent person to handle the job when hes nit around. His office move in logistics, and theres a lot of admin works that no one could handle. So he proposed me to do the job.

However, Ive been working as HR and legal for years and I have no knowledge of logistics
Works. And to receive such responsibility requires knowledge and experience.
and I dont have such. :(

So I have to say no.
I know I have once wanted to work much closer from my house, and this refuse really made me awful, but I couldnt risk my friends business. I just hope he would understand.

The night had late, and I must go home because I needed rest, since I had arranged a travel to Bandung at 5.45 tomorrow morning.
I asked myself to go home, and he  was sorry he couldnt take me home because there was his business partner who had wait for him to discuss something.

At my ride to home, I couldnt stop thinking, what kind if opportunity I had missed. I just hope I didnt do anything wrong.

I hope.
